In 2021 the Minister for Māori Development granted the following two class exemptions allowing Māori Trust Boards to continue to operate in a way that did not comply with specific requirements contained in the Māori Trust Boards Act 1955. These class exemptions were revoked on 31 March 2021.
On 2 November 2021 the Act was amended to enable the Minister for Māori Development to grant class exemptions to some Māori entities from certain statutory obligations. This power will cease on 30 October 2022.
In accordance with our responsibilities under the Legislation (Publications) Regulations 2021 and for transparency to entities’ members and beneficiaries, during this period any class exemptions that the Minister has approved will be published on this page.
