Kiwigarden Directors Joanne Edwards (Ngāti Kahungungu, Ngāti Porou) and Taine Randell (Ngāti Kahungungu, Tainui) were struggling to find healthy, convenient, allergy-friendly kai options for their tamariki, so they decided to make their own.
With ingredients sourced in Aotearoa, Kiwigarden makes the snacks themselves using the freeze-drying method to remove the water but lock in the goodness and maintain the nutritional benefits of the ingredients.
A Māori-owned business, based in the Hawkes Bay, Kiwigarden believe their te ao Māori, and whānau-centred, approach to business is what sets them apart from their competitors and is an advantage when competing in the global market. Supported by Te Puni Kōkiri through the Māori Business Growth Fund to carry out assessments of their digital capability, Kiwigarden was able to review and improve their digital strategy to continue to grow their business.
