A review of the Māori language strategy and sector was completed in March 2011. Te Paepae Motuhake publicly released its report ‘Te Reo Mauriora’ on 13 April 2011.

The Government will carefully consider the contents and recommendations of the Panel’s report and make an initial statement to outline the overall direction of the whole of government response. It is intended that the initial statement will be made during Māori Language Week, 4 – 10 July 2011. This will be followed by further work to develop a new Māori Language Strategy, for confirmation in early 2012.
