Adding a Hollywood sense of style to Kiwi DVDs is the niche being carved out by Māori entrepreneur William Fitzgerald.
William, of Rangitāne and Ngāti Porou, has been in the business of DVD technology for the last five years. His company, Chillybin Integrated Media, specialises in all aspects of DVD production including the cover, menus, archival footage, sound and more.
Chillybin has an integrated team of digital specialists in audio, film, website development, multimedia and photography.
“I bring a big Hollywood sense of style to all my productions and I offer the same skill set as anyone in LA,” says William.“I take the final content and add artistic ideas like photo galleries, music, enhanced features – anything the client wants really.”
William graduated with a diploma in new media production from the prestigious Southseas Film and Television School in 2002. In 2003, he started his Palmerston North based company and used the name Chillybin because of its iconic status for New Zealanders.
William approached Te Puni Kōkiri’s Business Facilitation Service Account Manager Bernie Savage early in 2007 with an eye to the future.
“I had a good kōrero with Bernie about my business and he was able to successfully marry my business needs with a business mentor.”
The business mentor assisted with a marketing strategy, new client generation and a new business plan.
“It was really great to just bounce ideas off the Te Puni Kōkiri team. It was reassuring to me knowing that I wasn’t alone in this waka,” he says.
