Te Reo in the Public Sector Urgent Inquiry (Wai 3327) is a Waitangi Tribunal urgent inquiry into coalition government policies impacting te reo Māori.

An urgent hearing will be held at the Waitangi Tribunal Offices in Wellington on Monday, 10 June 2024 – Friday, 14 June 2024.

As the lead agency in the Wai 3327 urgent inquiry, Te Puni Kōkiri is offering financial assistance to those participating in the upcoming hearing in Wellington.

Do I qualify?

The following groups of people qualify for funding to support their participation in the Wai 3327 urgent inquiry:

  • Claimants in the Wai 3327 inquiry.
  • Interested parties who have been granted permission to participate in the Wai 3327 inquiry.
  • Witnesses presenting their evidence at the Wai 3327 urgent hearing, and
  • Support people for the above groups.

What will the funding cover?

For those who qualify, Te Puni Kōkiri will make and pay for travel and accommodation bookings.

Funding can also be provided for meals, mileage, fuel for a rental car, and private accommodation.

Other costs which arise may be covered on a case-by-case basis, such as a contribution to support claimants to watch the livestream of the hearing.
