Information hui will be held by the Muaūpoko Tribal Authority to inform Muaūpoko members of the mandate process and the Treaty settlement process.
In June 2012, the Muaūpoko Tribal Authority submitted a draft mandate strategy to the Crown detailing their proposed process to gain a Crown-recognised mandate to represent Muaūpoko in negotiations with the Crown for the comprehensive settlement of the historical Treaty of Waitangi claims of Muaūpoko.
Prior to formal mandate hui there will also be information hui held by the Muaūpoko Tribal Authority to inform Muaūpoko members of the mandate process and the Treaty settlement process generally at the following venues:
Date | Venue | Time |
Saturday, 23 June 2012 | Masterton Motor Lodge, 250 High Street, Masterton | 11am |
Saturday, 23 June 2012 | Kingsgate Hotel, 110 Fitzherbert Ave, Palmerston North | 5pm |
Sunday, 24 June 2012 | Kawiu Marae, 290 Kawiu Rd, Levin | 11am |
These hui will also present information on the mandate sought by the MTA and to answer any questions. To note, no mandate has been conferred – the voting process and evidence submitted will be considered in the form of a Deed of Mandate by the Crown. A copy of the draft Mandate Strategy is available here.
Te Puni Kōkiri invites submissions on the above. Submissions must reach Te Puni Kōkiri by no later than 29 June 2012. Note that the Muaūpoko Tribal Authority will be given copies of all correspondence received in relation to this matter. Submissions should be forwarded to the Manager, Treaty Settlements, Te Puni Kōkiri, PO Box 3943, Wellington, or email mandatesubs@tpk.govt.nz .
