At 9.26am on Wednesday 26 September, Te Puni Kōkiri will take part in the New Zealand ShakeOut.
An anticipated one million people will participate in New Zealand’s largest ever earthquake drill. Communities around the motu will practice the “Drop, Cover and Hold” – the right action to take in an earthquake.
Prepare yourself and your whānau so you know what to at work and at home in a disaster. A prepared whānau is a whānau ready to look after themselves in a disaster.
The ‘Shakeout’ campaign has been created to help people and organisations get better prepared for major earthquakes, and practice how to be protected when they happen.
In the next few weeks we will post information and tips on how you can be prepared in the workplace and at home; and how business owners can develop contingency plans.
Share this information with your whānau, sports clubs, marae, kura, and whānau whānui. You might even have a few hints of your own to share with us.
Subscribe to our RSS feed, or like and follow Kōkiri on Facebook to receive notifications when we post more information.
Know the Drop, Cover and Hold drill and do it on 9:26-26:9. Check-out www.shakeout.govt.nz for more information.
