In 2011 Te Puni Kōkiri commissioned an evaluation on: how well the Te Puni Kōkiri investment strengthened the capacity and capability of Māori Wardens; and how well Te Puni Kōkiri implemented the investment. This is the full report of the evaluation findings.
This external evaluation of the Te Puni Kōkiri investment in the Māori Wardens Project from 2007 to 2010 indicates that the investment was generally successful in enhancing the capability and capacity of the Māori Wardens. The evaluation report highlights that considerable work is under way to continue strengthening the Māori Wardens, and it suggests more progress is required in areas such as strengthening stakeholder relationships, reviewing warranting systems, and ensuring effective consultation on the future governance of the Māori Wardens.
