The Minister of Māori Affairs wishes to hear from suitably qualified persons who would like to be considered for the position of Māori Trustee.
The Māori Trustee is a statutory corporation sole appointed by the Minister of Māori Affairs. The purpose of the Māori Trustee is to provide fair, proper, and prudent administration and management of clients’ assets within the principles and obligations of trusteeship and agency and in accordance with the Māori Trustee Act 1953, Trustee Act 1956, Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993, and other applicable legislation.
The successful candidate for the position should demonstrate high levels of integrity; leadership experience; understanding of the obligations of a trustee; business acumen; proven ability to engage and influence at the highest level; knowledge of Te Reo me ōna Tikanga Māori; an understanding of the issues facing Māori land owners and familiarity with legislation affecting Māori land.
